5th grade
Welcome to fifth grade at OCES!

Fifth Grade is a wonderful year filled with new, significant learning experiences, and fun,    exciting opportunities. Our team of teachers collectively analyzes data to help each child reach his/her fullest potential.

High expectations are held for responsibility, organization, kindness, and work ethic as we focus on all subject areas. The Georgia Common Core Standards of Excellence and Georgia Performance Standards are aligned to all content areas. The Accelerated Reader, Study Island, and Accelerated Math Programs are utilized in fifth grade to reinforce skills. The Georgia Milestone Assessment will be administered in the spring. MAP Testing will be administered in the fall, winter, and spring to assess student progress and to help teachers plan individualized instruction. Our team works with families to help build each child’s educational and social foundation to prepare him/her for middle school, which is a necessity.

Behavior cards are given to students each quarter to earn the privilege of going to our Big Bash Celebration. Behavior cards and Friday folders need to be signed each weekend and returned on Monday. Be sure to check Power School and Renaissance (for Accelerated Reading) to monitor your child’s progress.

We are looking forward to an extraordinary year and getting to know your child!

Our VISION
